The family moved to Nevada when Karina’s father was transferred out of Vietnam but her first tutors continued to encourage her interest in the game wholeheartedly, which resulted in Karina molding her latent skills in the game into advanced techniques that would prove competitive in card rooms sessions when she was old enough to play casino games at Las Vegas.

Initially, Karina accompanied her parents when they frequented Las Vega casinos because it was close to their hometown and they recognized their young daughter’s potential. Later, with shrewd observations of her parents’ games, Karina mastered the game and since she couldn’t hang around doing nothing but watch for too long, she took the plunge herself into live games.

She also helped out in the jewelry business established by her mother and also the Chinese restaurant they ran together.

Karina began with 7 Card Stud games that she played with Tan Le, her cousin and once she was confident of Texas Hold’em strategies, she entered local tournaments. She won these effortlessly and went to worldwide events, like 2001 Late Night Poker Game which she won again followed by the Poker Classic as well as the Four Queens Poker Classic held in LA, which she won in 2002.

She met Chip Jett, her future husband and fellow poker pro in a Mississippi poker tournament and now they have 2 cute children they are grooming to turn pro as well! The poker happy couple run a WPT Boot Camp, sell their popular merchandise and even act out in poker movies when not playing pro poker!
